One slow exhale, timed. How long you can comfortably breathe out is a trainable proxy for CO₂ tolerance and the state of your downshift, and it moves within two weeks of practice. Sixty seconds, no equipment, nothing leaves this page.

  1. Sit tall. Take one gentle breath in through the nose. Normal size, no big gulp.
  2. Press and hold the ring as you exhale slowly through the nose.
  3. Release at the first genuine need to inhale. No straining, no heroics.

Skip this if you're pregnant or have a cardiac or respiratory condition, unless your clinician says otherwise. Stop if you feel dizzy. Comfort is the measurement.
